Office administrators are an integral part of all offices. They help all the departments of the office to work efficiently in conjunction with each other. One of the main duties of the office assistants is typing of the data which requires data entry skills which enables people to get the data handy whenever required. It is a prerequisite for any educational programs which sharpens basic typing skills and improve speed and accuracy. The students will be taught standard keyboard layout, basic typing technique, typing tutorial, working on speed and accuracy.

What Does An Office Administrator Do?

Office administrators play an important role in the proper and smooth functioning of the office.

Universities offer courses in Office Administration which gives weightage for your candidature for the post over other candidates who apply for the same post. These courses develop and sharpen the administrative skills of the students such as file management (making files for new projects and updating the existing files with the project developments), answering phone calls and transferring the calls to the concerned person, guiding people on conference calls and similar activities, using fax machines, organizing meetings and seminars checking the availability of the people and the conference rooms, responding to emails and preparing documents to name a few. They are also involved in accounting tasks (invoicing and budget tracking).

Where can an Office Administrator Find the Job?

Candidates who hold a diploma in office administration can find a position of Office Assistant, Office Secretary or Office Administrator.
What Does an Office Administrator Course Compose of?

The course does not require candidates to be highly educated you just need to have 12 or equivalent qualification and must be proficient in English. The non-native candidates are required to pass the test as per the college policy or provide proof of the CLB Level 6 or more. The candidates are expected to earn a decent amount of CAD 18 to CAD 25 per hour.

The job profile of medical office assistant will be different from the other office assistants. They are required to have the medical knowledge to communicate with the doctors and also the patients. The job profile includes medical billing, medical transcription, and Medical Office Procedures. They will have additional topics to be studied electronic medical record keeping, pharmacology, clinical skills, medical terminology to name a few.

Medical Office Assistant (MOA) can find a job at a Chiropractor’s office, Family Practice, Physiotherapist office, Primary Healthcare Organization, Walk-in Clinic.

The students can start earning a decent salary from an early age and the course also lays the foundation to study and work for higher job profiles.
